Final Designs

The final designs for the Diesel project. I think i've achieved exactly what I set out to do and i've had quite a bit of fun doing this project. Like the concept book screenshot post, I forgot to print that one off and include it into my research/development folder but it's on here so I hope that's okay. Given that I had over a months headstart on this project I know it's reflected in the depth of this project over the other 3 and I wish I could have had that extra month to bring it up to the level in which i've gone into this project. Nevertheless, I think i've done a good job this semester in tackling 4 projects, each with respective blogs/research folders and sketchbooks. Along with the other projects i've had going on as well (web design and image making), I feel quite accomplished.

Digital Diary for Concept book

I've since tweaked the concept book a little but it's more or less the same as here (replaced the filler text with actual lyrics and a considered breakdown of the illustrations i've created). Unfortunately I've forgotten to print this post and the final designs post but hopefully this won't be a problem as they are still here on the blog.

Illustration 2 Process

This Illustration for "Cracking The Whip" is still a work in progress and as such, this post shall be added to at a later date.

Illustration 1 Process "You Won't Hear From Me Again"

This is my initial illustration for the track "You Won't Hear From Me Again". I still have a few things to tweak and some feedback tomorow shall help me understand if things need to be changed. I felt a little silly posing for these photos but I think the outcome is good. I need to act a more obvious fracture near the hand of the light person, I may even splinter the ends of the mirror and have chunks come loose.

The rational behind this illustration is the song speaks a lot about "The Enemy". The song defines it as the band/artist being on their own path/own journey, recognising they are different from others and contrasting themselves with their enemy. That's what i've tried to capture in this illustration. All the elements he see's in others i've interpretted as it being seen in himself too. He compares himself with this enemy during the chorus and so, I figured the best way to illustrate this would be mirrow/window type of situation. Hee is shattering the mirror, setting himself free from it all. A literal way of making sure "You won't hear from me again".

I chose photomanipulation and a vector fusion kind of look. It should be noted that the left hand figure isn't vector, but in fact just manipulated to look that way, so I guess it could be classed as vexel.
